Dr. Scott Hancock, professor of History and Africana Studies, Gettysburg College, addressed the Consortium Faculties 41st Convocation Saturday Sept 21 at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He built on W.E.B. Dubois’ claim that “the problem for America is that of colored peoples”–which demands reconstruction of post-Civil War history in light of Black Americans’ agency and their alternative narratives. He challenged all faculty to explore critical frameworks of racial and ethnic diversity, and prepare students for America’s growing racial difference and diversity as a welcome and transformative future. Stellar responses by Renee Harrison of Howard University School of Divinity and Leonard Hummel of Gettysburg Seminary.
