Our Tachmindji Event for Interreligious Dialogue event on Sunday, October 27, 2024 took place at American University in Washington, D.C. It highlighted the global impact of religious nationalism in the promotion of violence and autocratic governments. One of the leading experts in global religious nationalism, Dr. Mark Juergensmeyer, joined us for an in-depth analysis and discussion of these movements — Muslim, Christian, and Jewish – and how they compare to what has been called “Christian Nationalism” in the U.S. He covered social, religious, and political dimensions of each movement discussed, and he placed U.S. developments within a global context.
