  • COVID-19 updates for WTC schools (May 15, 2020)

    An update of news we have from various WTC schools about their classes and future plans in response to the current COVID-19 health crisis:

    Byzantine Catholic Seminary online courses will continue as scheduled, with summer and fall offerings posted.  Resident seminarians have been sent home.

    Catholic University School of Theology….:  All classes have gone online for the summer. Libraries are now closed; most staff working virtually.   Theological College students who have gone home. Commencement took place  May 16 and can be viewed virtually.  Federal CARE funds available for students with hardships.     Howard University School of Divinity:   All classes moving to online until end of the semester. Public meetings and chapel are cancelled, and access to campus is largely restricted. Most staff are teleworking.  Semester grades have moved to pass/fail unless a student requests otherwise. A “Virtual Commencement” took place  Saturday, May 9, 2020 and can be seen here.  Class of 2020 Convocation to honor graduates will be held Mother’s Day weekend, 2021.     John Leland Center: All courses have gone ONLINE through the semester.  Library and offices are now closed. Staff is teleworking.  Commencement has been postponed.  Updates at: https://www.leland.edu/ or call (703) 812-4757.

    PFIC at the Dominican House of Studies: Classes took place for Dominican students through spring, most will go to summer assignments.  Commencement was held for Dominican brothers on May 15.   Limited library access for no more than 7 at a time.     Reformed Theological Seminary–DC: All on site-courses have been moved online for the summer summer.  Most offices and library now closed; staff is teleworking. There will be no commencement, but a future celebration will be planned. For updates see: https://rts.edu/news/coronavirus-update/

    Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at VUU (Richmond):  All public gatherings and events are closed at the University.   All classes have gone ONLINE for the summer.   Most staff are teleworking. Library open only to VUU students, faculty, and students, with limited hours. Commencement took place May 11, 2020 and can be seen online.     United Lutheran Seminary (Gettysburg and Philadelphia):   All classes have gone ONLINE for the summer.  Both campuses now officially closed to students, faculty, and staff at least until June15.  Libraries are now closed. An online Service for Graduates was held May 15, 2020 and can be seen virtually.  Masks required for any return to campus or use of the food pantry.     Virginia Theological Seminary:   All offices, library, chapel and public gatherings remain closed. Classes are now online for the summer Library is closed, but digital resources still available to students and faculty: see https://vts.libguides.com/coronavirusAll staff are working virtually. Commencement was held and live-streamed on May 14, 2020.  Plans for opening in the fall are being made, pending health official guidelines.  For updates go to: https://www.vts.edu

    Wesley Theological Seminary:   All classes have moved to ONLINE for the summer.  Offices, library, and chapel remain  closed.  All faculty and staff are working virtually.  Commencement planned for 5/11 is postponed, but a Service of Celebration was held.     Our WTC staff is now working virtually, with ED’s occasional access to the office as needed.  You can always reach us via email or by phone (703-232-5303–Larry’s cell). We extend our support and prayers for resilience, health, and continued learning during these times.  Prayers also for those infected, critically ill, or dying.
