We have been surrounded by the visit of Pope Francis here in Notheast Washington.  Catholic University of America and the asilica were beautifully decked out for the canonization service of Junipero Serra–the 17th century Franciscan missionary to California–and the mass celebrated with 24,000 people on campus. The rites, music, and eucharist were stunning, and the Pope’s message to come out of our complacency to share the gospel in service and evangelism was stirring. Our prayers are with all the seminarians and faculty of Consortium schools and all Catholics in the region who were present to be blessed by the Papal Mass and guided for years by this historic occasion.
